Path of Realization by Shristi Varshney

Path of Realization

Every lone hour I walk countless strides,
Towards the house you lived in years ago,
Only to find all the lowering tides,
Allowing all the pain and scars to show.
You left nothing but memories behind,
To rot in that dilapidated house,
But to those memories I have been twined,
And their immortality makes them rouse.
I keep on looking for you in my mind,
But you are nothing more than a specter,
And you are just impossible to find,
Our love is no longer a sweet nectar.
It is time for me to boldly move on,
Hopefully I’ll be over you by dawn.

Sonnet by Lauren Comerato

The days become shorter, and nights drag on
Sunlight fades and darkness consumes the sky,
Frost covers the rolling plains until dawn,
And at that moment warmth and heat pass by.
Winter nights are filled with small crystal specs;
The ground becomes a blanket ,soft, and white;
Within that blanket small snowflake shaped flecks,
Those flecks all fly around on their own flight.
The sky soon appears a solid color.
Light cannot penetrate, so darkness stays;
Wind picks up much faster that the others,
Tree branches are blown around looking frayed.
 Although winter may seem dim, you see;
This dark ,cold, season is special to me.

The Unpredictable By Donata Liu

The Unpredictable

By Donata Liu

Weather in Bay State lacks normality
I swear Mother Nature is bipolar
Frequent changes is a brutality
Each day gets either hotter or colder

Winter extends for more than half a year
By then everybody wants warm weather
‘Tis mid-March, yet snow is still what’s to fear
Can the seasons please just come together?

One warmer day in March gives such false hope
But then Mother Nature changes her mind
She laughs and says, “Y’all wanted spring, but nope!”
Why can’t you pick on someone your own kind?

Bay State weather is unpredictable

Everyday ‘tis very unthinkable.

The Race by Dan Paget

The Race
I step onto the red and rubber track
My mind set on one thing, the finish spot
I size the racers and plan my attack
I remember everything i’ve been taught
My form is perfect I am fit to win
I think this race has already been won
I’m on my mark my time is growing thin
We then hear the loud sound of the start gun
I’m up and away sprinting down my lane
All the racers are not prepared for me
This battle is for my personal gain
The trophy is the only thing I see
I give all I have and run through the line
Not first? oh well I guess second is fine

I don’t have an idea for a sonnet
I’m just sitting here staring into space
What rhymes with sonnet? I got it; bonnet
Still sitting with my hand under my face

Now I get a text and it distracts me
An hour goes by and still no idea
I will just sit here and think, thats the key
Never mind, I’m going to Ikea

I’m back home with no clue on what to write
Mom is yelling at me to do my work
The light above my head is not too bright
I am almost done and I have a smirk

I’m bad at writing sonnets, don’t you see?

Especially while my mom yells at me

Slipping by Colin Tonkiss

Slipping

Outside it is a bright and sunny day
But I’m falling into endless darkness
I feel my body is wasting away
These holes in my soul show I’m not mark less
Dark taking every aspect of my life
No one really cares if I live or die
Mind and body in an ongoing strife
When I take my life will anyone cry
But suddenly there is light in the black
It takes shape of a girl with open arms
Someone who cares and won’t let me turn back
A twinkle in her eye, love, and her charms
She saw me when I was down on the ground
Care for your peers before they aren’t around
