Sonnet by Thayare S

The time of year that everyone hates least,
The sun is out all day shining above.
The sun rises early in the far east,
And sets in the west with a view that loves.

Kids wearing bikini tops and great gems,
Running around with no worries and fears.
Spending endless hours with your best friends,
Going on adventures while chanting cheers.

Swimming in big pools and beaches daily,
Leaving with sunkissed hair and golden skin.
Where the tan will fade but the memories,
Will always stay with me and my great kins.

Summer is always when my head is clear,

In the long-awaited days of the year.

  1. This is a very relatable poem. And I love how it is a sonnet, which is difficult. My favorite line is “Summer is always when my head is clear, the the long-awaited days of the year”
