This sculpture is meant to represent balance and equality. The figure is panted black and white to resemble yin and yang which is a representation of equality. Also the figure is on a balance beam which is mad to show the balance and the figure has a melting effect that makes it seem as if it is trying to become one with the beam, which gives another perspective of balance.

The Catcher in the Rye found poem by Niko McLaughlin
Tonight
I don’t feel very much like myself tonight
If you really want to hear about it
I was so damn worried
It was too late to call up for a cab or anything
I can’t understand
Some things are hard to remember
The first thing I did was I felt like giving someone a buzz
I realized it was only one chance in a million
You want to know the truth?
It was very phony
I felt so depressed, you can’t imagine
I felt like I was disappearing
Standing on the edge of some crazy cliff
Boy I felt miserable
That’s why, in my mind, you shouldn’t ever tell anybody anything
You start missing everybody
I miss Allie

The leaf picture was taken on one of the first cold days of the season. The leaves and grass were covered in frost which sparkled like gems in the sunlight.

This represents chaos versus order. The heart represents the order
which is centered between all of the chaos. The way to look at this
art piece is to think about society and the balance between order and
chaos. If there were no chaos there would be no need for order and
without order there would be too much chaos. There is enough balance
in this piece that it attracts your eye to the center and then allows
you to move throughout to get the full effect.

Sleepwalking by Miya Laughlin
My mother told me it would go away
I’d grow out of it
wake up
Sleepwalking is for children
And I am not a child
Too old for dress up
Too young for dress suits
wake up
I walk alone
My subconscious takes over
Mind blank
Body a ghost of last night’s dream
wake up
This walking corpse isn’t me
I walk
forward
Wednesday into Thursday
skips to Saturday
Moonlight or rays of sun
wake up
Who is this
This shell of a person
What is left of her
wake up
Everything that defined her now extinct
Her mother never told her that her worst nightmare can turn into realityFriday, October 2, 2015

Future Bail Money
Ain’t no tellin what i've done
Ain’t no tellin what you've done
Ain’t no tellin what we've done
Ain't no tellin them anything
Cuz family is the only real thing in this world
Keep em close and you’ll be safe
Push em away and….good luck
Reasons
Lifes a beat
You're born with a beat
Heartbeat
Ten years later you learn your first swear
You get a different kind of beat
Whooping
Five years later someone makes fun of your mum
You give your first beat you get home and your mum gives you a beat
And you tell her why you beat him
“I love you son”
My stereotype
Because i’m white im rich
I have a mom and a dad
I always have money on me
I get whatever i want
Naw
Actually i'm adopted
Which means my original parents said no thank you
I have two dads who work so hard to provide
And the money I have isn't just handed to me
So yeah im white don't ask me for money
And don't assume who I am
Get to know me first
Thief by Hoanghung Vancong
Running through the night,
Heart beating fast with fear
It’s dark and it’s quiet;
There’s no sound to hear,
Except the thumping of feet
As I try to escape
He’s gaining on me
I think it’s too late
I can hear him get closer
He’s about to attack
I run into the forest
Leaves rustle, twigs crack
He’s such a big man
How can he move so fast?
My night was so peaceful
Until I took out the trash
I feel a punch to my head
I trip and I fall
He stands over me
Looking horrifically tall
He holds a knife to my throat
I can feel the blade: razor-sharp
He says, “Give me your wallet
Before I cut out your heart”
Then I awoke from my dream
I was safely in bed
My alarm clock was blaring,
Blinking 6:30 in red
